Special Edition
Normally you would see what is coming up on RBH here in this section. Well, we here at Ruck's BBQ are dealing with a special situation that requires us to reach out to our family, friends, and patrons.
On September 23, 2008 my great nephew Jacob Butler 2 years old, was diagnosed with Leukemia and is being treated at CHKD. Jacob is the son of Kevin and Cameron Butler of Suffolk and both are graduates of Nansemond River High School. Kevin works at Newport News shipyard and Cameron has left her job at the Church to care for Jacob. Although they do have medical insurance, Jacob is looking at a three year treatment program with chemotherapy once a week.
We have been blessed in so many ways, but still have so far to go with a lot of hurdles. But with your prayers and help, we are ready to take each step with Jacob.
To offset the medical cost that is not covered under the insurance, the Church has opened an account at Suffolk
First Bank. Please make donations to:

Taxes
Info:
It's that time of the year again. Gathering all your receipts. Concerned of tax issues. We
would rather go to the dentist and get a tooth pulled without novacaine than to sit down and
prepare our taxes.
We here at RBH endorse any product here but just providing a little informaiton for those that are looking. In todays tax market there are a number of commercial products a person can purchase to file your taxes. There are a few resources to file free. And then there is always your local tax preparer.
Here are simple tips to with taxes:
- Save all important documents (this makes preparing for taxes easier)
- Decide which is best for you (self prepared or tax preparer)
- File on Time!!!! (The most important but it you can't, file an extension)
- Just do them (It's easier said than done but once they are done, there done!)

With temperatures topping the Mid 70's and people wearing shorts in January. Those days are coming to an end quickly as the East Coast braces for the winter finally. Temperatures will begin to plumet to the mid 20's with the freezing Midwest storms coming this way. It knocked out power and shut down business.

Keeping Safe
Holiday Tips:
There was a good article in the todays Hampton Roads section of The Virginian-Pilot about keeping safe during the holiday shopping.
Some of the tips included:
- Take a friend along
- Report any suspicious activity
- Avoid carrying too many bags
- Lock packages in the trunk
- Be alert and aware of your surroundings
- Keep vehicles clean and free of clutter to dicourage break-ins
- Ask security gaurds to escort you to your vehicle if you are uncomfortable
- Avoid carrying large amounts of cash
- Park in well-lit areas, lock doors and close windows
- Have your keys ready before you get to your vehicle
These tips are not just for the holidays, they should be part of your daily practice.
There are so many times nothing happens that we as shoppers take for granted that it will
not happen to us but as crime increases and times get worse, the odds of it not happening
increases.
So even when it is not the holidays, make it part of your daily routine to follow a few
simple steps to better help prevent useless crimes against you or your loved ones.
We here at RBH like to pass on to you educational information and always wish you and your family the best.
